Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia Found in Nomadic Herd
MAURITANIA – A nomadic cattle herder has lost three cattle through a contagious bovine pleuropneumonia outbreak in the south west of Mauritania.
A total of 42 cases have been confirmed in a herd of 300 cattle in the border region of Kaédi near Djeol, reports the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
Epidemiological investigations show the cattle belonged to a Senegalese farmer and became infected through contact at whilst grazing/watering.
The National Livestock and Veterinary Research Centre confirmed the infection back in January.
Relevant measures are in place to contain the disease.
